Palm Family Dentistry

What should I do if I crack or break a tooth?

A cracked or broken tooth may or may not cause immediate sensitivity; however, it is essential to evaluate it as soon as possible to prevent further damage or discomfort.

Please reach out to your team at Palm Family Dentistry at one of our two convenient locations in Baton Rouge or Prairieville. We make every effort to see emergency patients as soon as possible and offer same-day treatment whenever possible.

Handling a Broken Tooth

If you have any pieces of your tooth, please bring them to the dentist. Our dentists will assess the situation and determine the best treatment for your needs, which could be a filling, crown, or veneer, for example.

If the tooth is causing pain, you can manage it with over-the-counter medication, such as ibuprofen, until you can see your emergency dentist. Avoid chewing, biting, or eating around that tooth until we can assess your situation.
